Freedom from Discrimination
Facts:
Discrimination based
on skin color,
body size, religious belief, gender, gender
preference, marital status, age,
physical/mental ability, or employment status
remains a fact of life in much of
the business world, educational institutions
and society in general.
How NWPC
Acts:
NWPC believes that active
or passive
discrimination in employment, education,
housing, social or private opportunity,
is detrimental to the good of a free
society.
NWPC members and the
political
candidates they support individually and
collectively in their personal,
professional and social lives, take positive
steps to promote mutual
understanding and respect among all people by
reducing intolerance and
inter-group tension through education,
legislation and enhancement of public
awareness.
Respecting the uniqueness of individuals.
Supporting personal and professional relationships that further the principles of fairness, justice and opportunity.
Encouraging fair treatment of and equal access to opportunities for all persons.
Fostering and encouraging respect and tolerance for all people.
How you can act:
Be aware of your own attitudes, words and actions and take affirmative action to interact with others fairly.
Become aware of your employer’s policies and how they are enforced; advocate for adoption and implementation of non-discriminatory policies and actions at work.
Condemn discrimination when it occurs in your presence or your community.
Work to see that your local schools have appropriate policies in place and that they are meaningfully implemented.
Contact your
elected representatives at all levels, urging
their support of these
issues.
Recognize and commend
persons and
organizations which actively work in
furtherance of tolerance and
inclusion.
Vote for candidates who
support
these goals.
NWPC calls for
participation in
every level of society, business and
government, with thoughtful regard to
gender, race, ethnicity, religion, physical
handicap, socio-economic status or
gender
preference.
