CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
Saturday's Board Meeting: The time and place where the underlying mission of the Caucus was realized with the endorsement of numerous women for CA Senate, CA Assembly, County Boards of Supervisors and City Mayors
Patty Berg's keynote address: As leader of the Legistlative Women's Caucus, Patty brought her lifetime of passion for justice and equity to the forefront, emphasizing how crucial sound budgeting is to the provision of education, healthcare, social services, and public infrastructure.
Intergenerational Panel: Seven women -- young, older and in-between, speaking from the heart about what inspires and motivates their ongoing commitment to feminist principles ... and how the delivery of their message has changed from the days of street marches and picket signs to Facebook and blogging.

This Initiative proposes to amend the CA Constitution to: (1) create presumption that a fetus becomes viable at 24 weeks; (2) define fetal viability to include the use of life support; (3) ban abortion of a viable fetus except where necessary to save mother’s life; and (4) give viable fetuses rights to life and medical care; it provides that abortion after 24 weeks is murder unless necessary to save mother’s life. NWPC-CA OPPOSES THIS INITIATIVE. Not surprisingly, it is sponsored by the same people who brought Props 73, 85 and now Prop 4 forward.
