You’re Not Just Running For School Board, You’re Running to Heal a Nation: Where Budgets and Community Values Meet

July 29, 2020 — This panel examined the new realities affecting the decisions that K-12 school boards and other local municipal bodies will make to address communities’ demands that budgets be retooled to reduce the outsized funding of law enforcement and the underfunding of education and community services due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic coupled and demands for racial justice inspired by the Black Lives Matter Movement. Featuring State Superintendent of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin as moderator, Orange County Board of Education Member Becky Gomez, Sacramento City USD Member and Sacramento City Council Candidate Mai Vang, and former Manhattan Beach City Councilwoman and School Boardmember Amy Howorth.

August 13, 2020: Effective Legislative Advocacy in a Coronavirus World

Legislatures local and statewide are continuing to meet to pass and enact laws and policies addressing the public health crisis and will have long standing impact on our world. This seminar led by NWPC CA Boardmember Sabrina Ashjian, esq. explained how to stay informed and engaged as governing bodies operate under these new rules.
