Hello NWPC CA Members, Supporters, and Allies,

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the start of summer! It has been an exciting time at NWPC CA as we work on candidate endorsements, track priority legislation, plan upcoming trainings, and more. We hope you’ll follow our emails and social media for upcoming events and activities both virtually and in a local caucus near you.

During this Pride Month, we want our LGBTQ+ friends and colleagues to know we stand with you and support you in ensuring your rights and equity. This is at the heart of the work we do, making sure representatives look like the communities they serve, and that they understand the importance of equity in decision-making. Local caucuses have joined in on Pride Celebrations across the state, including the Fresno caucus annually walking in the Fresno Pride Parade. See below for a photo of me and other members walking in the parade a few years ago. And stay tuned on our social for current photos of this year’s events.

In May we had the opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of our local caucuses, the San Fernando Valley. We honored caucus founder, Judith Hirshberg, with a lovely afternoon of tributes and stories from elected women, past chapter presidents, and longtime members. Thank you to the elected women for sharing the importance of our organization in supporting and uplifting your work. It was wonderful to get together to celebrate this milestone anniversary. NWPC board members are in Washington DC this month for our annual meeting. We’ll join board members from the national organization and caucuses all around the country to discuss new training ideas for candidates and campaign staffers, best practices for engaging membership, and tour our new national office at the Washington Post building. We look forward to sharing more about it in our next newsletter.
