You’re Not Just Running For School Board, You’re Running to Heal a Nation: Where Budgets and Community Values Meet

This panel examined the new realities affecting the decisions that K-12 school boards and other local municipal bodies will make to address communities’ demands that budgets be retooled to reduce the outsized funding of law enforcement and the underfunding of education and community services due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic coupled and demands for racial justice inspired by the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Featuring State Superintendent of Public Instruction Delaine Eastin as moderator, Orange County Board of Education Member Becky Gomez, Sacramento City USD Member and Sacramento City Council Candidate Mai Vang, and former Manhattan Beach City Councilwoman and School Boardmember Amy Howorth.
